The livery ethos of promoting professional standards, supporting education and training and undertaking charitable work is clearly relevant to the many successful IT professionals who look to give something back to the industry and to the wider community. With this in mind the idea IT Livery Company (WCIT) was established - becoming the 100th Livery Company in the City of London with the motto of CITO, meaning ‘swiftly’.

There is a long tradition of links between City of London Livery Companies and units of the United Kingdoms Armed Forces and it is this connection which is being illustrated and celebrated in WCIT’s entry into the 2015 Lord Mayor’s Show.

On the day of the Show, the White Helmets motorcycle display team will lead our Floats presence - so noise, excitement and eye catching stunts are a guaranteed attention grabber. The float itself and accompanying walkers will tell the story of our work.

Several Royal Signals officers are now members of the Company whilst remaining on active service. The Company’s Employment Panel provides pro bono advice and coaching to Signallers moving from their military careers into the civilian commercial world and a new career. To date, over 450 Royal Signals officers and soldiers have been assisted.
